Alright, well here we go.

I AM a Deaf chick. 

I WASN’T born Deaf.

I still CAN listen to music and I’m profoundly Deaf (since you probably don’t know what that is- its the technical term for how deaf I am— and I’m pretty deaf.)

Do you honestly think we would take that as a joke? 

That you would rather DIE than live like we do? Because you’ll miss out on one thing?  Except… oh wait!!! You WON’T miss out on that. 

Also, you didn’t just say you wanted to die, you said you would want to be euthanized. Not funny. Wanna know why? Because Deaf people used to be euthanized! Not long before World War II, there was this big eugenics movement in the United States. Deaf people weren’t allowed to marry each other, were surgically made barren, and if parents gave birth to a Deaf child, they got told that euthanization would be better for them and the child. 

It’s not funny. It’s our history, and our lives you’re poking fun at.

You’re entitled to your opinion, of course. I just wish you would think before you speak.

Oh… Also, I have about a dozen or more Deaf friends, and we all LOVE music. Even the ones born deaf.
